Right off of the bat, I could tell this book was going to be full of helpful hints and secrets. Battling depression for the past 6 years of my life, I am glad I stumbled across this book. It opened my eyes to things I was doing without realizing I was doing them and is currently helping me move past them. The eight rules of happiness highlighted in this book were the truth, at least in my opinion. While thinking about them, they made complete sense. I loved that the number one rule was "be healthy." I'd been trying to do this for years and during the times I was being healthy, my depression definitely lightened up ad when I ate like crap I felt like crap. The eighth rule was my other favorite rule. If you don't take time to look within yourself, you'd just be a shell. You also learn more about yourself that way and are then more able to make better decisions and life choices. I feel as though this book was a great source of inspiration for those trying to turn their life around. It is definitely inspiring me to. I recommend this book to all. How To Be Happy 8 Rules On How To Be Happy In Life Mind Body Spirit Classics Book 12 edition by Chris Cains SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
If you can master these 8 steps to happiness you will be set! Some of the steps that the book lays out are common sense, while others I had not thought much about before. Either way, How to Be Happy outlines several concrete strategies that you can use to help you achieve happiness in many aspects of your life. They are not "quick-fix" strategies, which makes them all the more authentic. If you dedicate yourself to implementing them, than you will most certainly increase your happiness for the long haul.
Overall- a great self-help book that dives into specific and authentic strategies to make you a happier person.
I used to be a very unhappy guy, have low self confidence and maybe slightly depressed. It's only until I came upon 3 of the rules in the book, then I started to have some changes in my life and was slightly happier..
And I'm glad that I gotten this book now because I'm able to understand the other 5 rules of happiness which is still missing in my life. To many people, it may seem common sense but I guess that they are probably not really happy because of their mindset.
I'm just going to print out the 8 rules in my room and start applying them everyday!
I used to wake up every morning wondering why I was alive. I felt hopeless and empty; I couldn't convince myself to be productive at work. For years, I felt this way. Each morning, the sun wasn't the reminder of a new, exciting day. It meant I had to suffer through another day where I looked at my watch every couple minutes, hoping that time would go faster so that I could get home and go to sleep. Every night, I wished that I would not wake up the next day. I was too depressed to change myself, and too afraid to look for help. My co-worker recommended this book to me, after seeing me so gloomy for so long. She insisted that I read it, and repeatedly told me that I would see a difference in my attitude toward life. She pestered me for a week, before I finally gave in to reading it. And I love her for it. This book has changed my life for the better. These are just eight extremely simple rules. And the author walks you through every rule and tells you exactly what you need to do to be happy. It's simple as that. Even if you aren't able to fulfill every rule, just trying to do so will make you a little happier. After reading this book, I feel like I have things to work for in life. Each day seems like an opportunity to improve and become better than the day before. There are even people and things that I feel that I love again. I sound like I am exaggerating, but this book has really helped my life make a complete U-turn from a year ago. I recommend this book for anyone needing a little help bringing their life around, or just in need of some encouragement to keep going. It was a huge eye-opener for me, and it will be for you, too.
Although I'm generally skeptical of self-help books, a friend recommended The 8 Rules of Happiness to me. I was really impressed. The book is clearly written and easy to read- each rule has its own section, and within each section is a lot of really good information.
Each of the 8 rules is a building block toward a healthier and happier lifestyle. The first one is "Be Healthy." We all know that we need to be healthier, but I, at least, lack motivation to change anything. Chris Cain makes the excellent point that we're only given one body- we ought to take care of it, and then lays out a number of simple ways to become healthier that are easily incorporated in my daily life.
The second rule, "Ensure Your Financial Stability," is equally important. Money is a huge source of stress in most people's lives, and stress doesn't make you happy or healthy. This section discusses everything from budgeting to choosing or changing your career path in order to find a fulfilling career. There's a lot of information packed into this section.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book. There's no shtick, no New Age-y looking for happiness outside yourself. Instead, the author shows us that we already have the tools to a happier, healthier life and shows us how to use them.
